You want to know what lawyers really do, how hard they really work, and what their lives are really like? READ THIS BOOK.I happened across it while doing research for my next book (addressing the question of whether people should go to law school) and I am going to put it on my blog and suggest that all of my law school admission consulting clients read this. It's a great deal on Kindle (only $9.95) and offers detailed insights into various legal careers. It's not just a list of what lawyers do each day as I feared when I purchased it - it's an in depth conversation with attorneys about what they do and how they feel about what they do. Lawyers surveyed graduated from all levels of US law schools (NYU, Thomas Jefferson, etc.) and even some from overseas. Absolutely read this!
Nice snapshot view of a few different jobs that apply a legal degreeI am enrolling in a JD program this year and hoped to get more insight into the practice of law itself in different jobs. While this was provided in some examples, it wasn’t provided in all of them, and space was taken with unnecessary discussions of daily routines that had very little relevance to the job described.Also, as a detail-oriented reader, I have to say—there were lots of typos!
Great book! It gives a succinct day-in-the-life of 24 different lawyers. It really shows the wide range of careers in the legal profession. This was a great read in helping me decide my future career as a lawyer.
This book offers a variety of different examples of what life as a lawyer might be like. My expectations based on the promotional description were met. It's nice because you don't just see their work, you see their kids and spouses and evening activities. Exactly what I was looking for. I recommend it.
It's an easy read and gives you a good idea of things to consider. A lot young students (teens-mid twenties) don't really know what an average day is for lawyers probably because they don't know anyone who is a lawyer, and their only exposure is TV (That's me). This book aids in that. For me, it helped remind me of factors important to consider, like 'if you want to have kids, how much time would you like to didicate to them?' You tend to get caught up in trying to get that title when you're young and in school and forget about those things.
This book is for everyone! From high school seniors to those in their later years looking for a new career path. I loved reading this book, I've learned so much about practicing law, & have made up my mind on what I want to do after career #1 is complete.
This is a great book to read if your interested in learning about different types of lawyers and what a day in the life of a lawyer is like. I'm getting ready for law school and it was very helpful to see the profession from different points of view.
I think the book does a really good job of showing what you can do as a lawyer that one may not have even thought of. I recommend this for anyone now sure of what they want to do with their career and have thought about law as an option.
